The Sisters of St. Joseph 1997, 114" x 30"

The Sisters of St. Joseph quilt, to the right of the altar, has the crest of the congregation with a map of LePuy France in the background. Mother Saint John Fontbonne, the founder of the order in France in 1650, is depicted. The Ionic column which graces the convent on campus has the faces of sisters past and present within its shadows. When the Sisters came to the this country their first convent was a log cabin St. Louis. In 1873 the sisters came to Boston and Jamaica Plain.
